In this article, I will show you textarea character count in jQuery. The easiest way to get character counter is $(“#your_textarea”). val().length in jQuery.
Example:
if ($("#txtcomment-0").val().length > 0) {
//do your stuff
alert($("#txtcomment-0").val().length);
}
Here, I needed for commenting system to check the user input character count is greater than I allowed saving.
Note: If you want to trim the spaces at the beginning and end of the value by the following way,
if ($("#txtcomment-0").val().trim().length > 0) {
//do your stuff
}
Output:
Showing alert the input count using jQuery length property.
